As a paying customer, I fork out a regular monthly amount to get a service I should be getting with no worries and no fuss. You probably remember seeing this clip from last year: a rather innovative game show called "The Human Tetris"- at least that's <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84_QL1kEmH4">what the clip says on YouTube</a>. If you haven't seen it yet, check this one out- it's extremely funny! You gotta hand it to these guys: a great concept truly needs no translation. Anyway, word is that FOX has picked up this show and already ordered 13 episodes- only this time, they're calling it "Hole In The Wall". I wonder how it will match up to the original? I suppose we'll find out soon enough. I think it was 1978 or 1979 when we actually got to see this anime in the Philippines. It was phenomenal- kids would run straight home right after school to catch these huge-ass robots slug it out with other evil huge-ass robots; there was nothing on TV like it. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings trilogy soon after that. I enjoyed those books immensely- they gave me that appreciation for other medieval fantasy books, and Dungeons and Dragons and all that crap. Great geeky stuff I was soaking up on in high school and early college. I gotta admit, I've been disappointed with Walden Media's 2005 big-screen adaptation of C.S. Lewis' The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Terribly disappointed. Pretty much for watering down everything to get that G-rating. The battles were neither epic nor gritty enough.
